At its heart, theater is playful, giving us a chance to explore our wildest dreams and craziest fantasies. In this class, you'll learn how to express your imagination and use your heart, body, and mind to create scenes, monologues, and more. Going with the flow, saying "yes," and having fun are the main goals in this light-hearted course. Class time will be chock-full of energetic theater games, and you'll even get a chance to dabble in the circus arts, where joy is paramount. Last class with be a 'shareformace' for family and friends.

Audition Monologue for Kids - # 462 (Ages 7-11)

Instructor: Lillian Myers
As an aspiring young actor, you need a monologue!

Actors need to be prepared to audition which requires selecting and memorizing a monologue. In this class, the instructor will choose a monologue suited specifically for each student. Then work begins to explore the character and how to bring the selected monologue to life. Thru a variety of fun exercises you will work on expression, vocal and physical character qualities. You will also be instructed on how to greet the auditor, how to announce your piece and present your monologue. This class will culminate with 'shareformance' for family and friends on the final afternoon at 5 pm.

Clown Around and Theater Games for the Whole Family! - #364 (Ages 15 – Adult)

Enhance your family dynamic through play!

Your lives can be filled with day to day stresses that get in the way of playful interactions with each other. This class is designed to break up the monotony and joyfully encourage and empower each family member. You and your family will experience a variety of comedic theater games, clown play, character and reverse role play, dinner discussion games, car ride games, sing along songs and secret handshakes. Wear comfortable clothes, bring water and a snack. Be ready to laugh, act up and put on your very own clown nose! Come join us at the brink of sanity.

Kids: One-week Workshop

Furry Tails with a Twist –by Jennifer Hickok DeFratis  
#464 (Ages 7 – 11)

Instructor: Eileen Nagle M.Ed
Kids act out characters and animals and create a show!

In this short one act play - you follow the adventures of Sam and Alex, two bumbling actors trying desperately to present a few of the world's most beloved fairy tales. Unfortunately, their script becomes seriously scrambled and they perform GoldiSOCKS and the Three Wolves, the Three Billy TROLLS Gruff, and The Three Little BEARS, who end up battling the Big Bad BILLY GOAT to delay the decimation of their domiciles. The workshop experience includes acting, improvisation games, movement and vocal work. Students will also work on crafting their own props and scenery! Final presentation for family and friends at 3PM on July 19 in the Studio Theatre.

Tuition

Classes require a 50% deposit at registration.  Tuition is due in full by the first day of class.  Limited scholarships and payment plans are available (Scholarship Application); contact education@6thstreetplayhouse.com

Refunds

We understand that you may find a class is not what you expected, or that life circumstances may change after you enroll. If you choose to withdraw, you may submit written notification prior to the second class. A $35 processing fee will be applied to defer costs plus prorate for classes attended.  A check for the remaining balance will be sent in approximately two weeks  There will be no make-up classes or refunds for missed classes.
