September 2007 Welcome to the 2007/2008 season at the 6th Street Playhouse, and our first newsletter of the season announcing some of the highlights: Final weekend of "Beauty and the Beast"Don't miss the closing weekend of Beauty and the Beast in the newly named GK Hardt Theatre. Both matinee performances this weekend are sold out, but seating does remain for the evening performances of Friday, Sept 7th, and Saturday, Sept 8th. Nominated for 9 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Beauty and the Beast is "The most beautiful love story every told". Directed by Holly Vinson, this show includes students from the School of Drama Summer Workshop.
The Studio opens with "Fully Committed"The Studio opens Friday, Sept 7th! Located in The Dance Center adjacent to the 6th Street Playhouse, the Studio is a blackbox style theatre that will showcase selected pieces throughout the season. Fully Committed promises to bring the Studio to life from September 7 - September 29th, with shows on Fridays & Saturdays at 8:00, and Sundays at 2:00. The hysterical one-man show won the Outer Critics Circle Award and was listed in Top 10 Plays of 2000. In the basement of Manhattan’s trendiest and hottest new restaurant, Sam answers the phone and takes the reservations. As the phone begins to ring off the hook, Sam has to juggle a variety of eccentric personalities: from mafia bosses, Wall Street tycoons, innocent tourists, rich old ladies and supermodels with exotic dietary needs to an irritable kitchen staff and an egomaniacal celebrity chef. It’s a frenetic 90-minute circus high-wire act featuring 40 characters and only one actor. Foodies, beware: You may recognize yourself...and still laugh! Directed by Argo Thompson, this show is double cast. Dan Saski and Justin Scheuer will alternate performances as Sam.
