January 2008 Public Exposure EXTENDED by Popular Demand
By popular demand, the Studio production of Public Exposure - an Indecent Political Farce has been extended for two more weekends. Six additional performances have been added to the run: Don't miss this irreverent look at the scandals and conspiracies that abound in American politics when a right-wing, conservative television anchor (with a dirty little secret) is persuaded to run for U. S. President. Written by Robert B. Reich, Professor of Public Policy at the Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California at Berkeley, this political satire features adult language and nudity. It is recommended for mature audiences only.
Now Playing in the GK Hardt: Little Shop of Horrors
Little Shop of Horrors - Music by Alan Menken & Lyrics by Howard Ashman, opened in the GK Hardt Theatre on January 18th. Don't miss this production, directed by David Lear, now playing through February 17th. A nerdy flower shop worker gets assistance in love when he tends to a blood-thirsty plant in this dark musical comedy. This cult classic features tunes in style of 1960's doo-wop, early Motown, and rock n’ roll with show-stoppers, such as, "Skid Row (Downtown)," "Somewhere That's Green," and "Suddenly Seymour.” WHEN: Jan. 18 to Feb. 17, 2008 6th Street Playhouse Announces Show ChangeThe very difficult decision of having to change a show in the mid-season has been made and was announced to season subscribers last week. Due to casting circumstances beyond our control, the musical 42nd Street will not be presented as planned. We apologize for having to make this change after tickets have been purchased, and we ask for your understanding, patience and forgiveness. 42nd Street is being replaced in the 2007-2008 season lineup by another fabulous show, Into the Woods, the award-winning musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine. Into the Woods debuted in San Diego at the Old Globe Theatre in 1986, and premiered on Broadway in 1987. Bernadette Peter's performance as the Witch and Joanna Gleason's portrayal of the Baker's Wife brought acclaim to the production during its original Broadway run. Into the Woods won several Tony Awards, including Best Score, Best Book and Best Actress in a Musical. Show dates and times for Into the Woods will be as they were for 42nd Street. All tickets purchased, season or single, will be honored for Into the Woods. Single ticket purchasers will be contacted to offer exchanges or refunds if desired. Again, the 6th Street Playhouse extends its apology for any disappointment this schedule change may cause.
