Our 2017/18 season opener is a true, hometown revival celebrating the 50th anniversary of the classic Broadway musical based on the famous "Peanuts" comic strip by Santa Rosa's own Charles M. Schulz.
Inept, but ever-hopeful, Charlie Brown searches for what it means to be a good person, finding unexpected answers from his friends Lucy, Linus, Schroeder, Sally and Snoopy. Visit with the gang as they set out to discover how happiness in life is made up of all the little moments we often take for granted - from flying a kite, to the baseball season, to finally kicking that football!
Laugh along with our cast of Cooper Bennett, Robert Finney, Katie Kelley, Siena Warnert, Amy Webber, Erik Weiss and Dominic Williams as they channel their weird, but lovable, inner kid in this warm-hearted, toe-tapping series of comic-strip-like vignettes.

The Wine Country Arts Council presents ‘Laughing Matters’ featuring art that makes us smile, chuckle, or burst into laughter. Artist submittals for this show include visual and literary artworks consisting of paintings, illustrations, sculptures, fiberartworks, poetry, short stories, original comics and more. All works are by Sonoma County artists. The ‘Laughing Matters’ exhibition coincides with You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.
"As I was looking for the perfect show to kick off our new season, entitled “Road to Discovery,” it was a truly serendipitous moment when I stumbled upon the fact that You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown was going to be celebrating the 50th Anniversary of its 1967 Broadway premiere this year,” said Craig A. Miller, Artistic Director of the Playhouse. “I knew that this show - for so many reasons - was destined to be the show to open our 2017-2018 season. You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown is not just a celebration of Charles M. Schulz, or of Charlie Brown and his Peanuts gang, which is obviously reason enough for any community-minded theatre in Santa Rosa, California to produce the show, paying homage to one of our most beloved hometown heroes. You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown is a lot more than that to everyone who encounters it, young and old - Peanuts aficionado, or not! This bubbly and sublime visit with Charlie Brown, and so many of our favorite characters from the Peanuts gang, in musical form, provide us with a poignant, hilarious and truth-filled series of vignettes lifted from the comic strip that touch a chord with all of us, in some way or another. Whether it’s a struggle with depression, and the theories of psychiatry; the insecurities that come with working up the courage to talk to an attractive person; or the journey to finding out who you really are, and the existential search for what it all means – the Peanuts tackle it all – as only 6-year-olds could! Set these colorful characters and situations loose, backed up with a terrific score of lovable, toe-tapping tunes, and with a dream cast and artistic staff who bring enormous talents, warmth and love to this show – we believe it is the most excellent gift we could give our community at the top of our season!”
