1999 Broadway Revival Version

Combine Shakespeare's timeless battle-of-the-sexes play, Taming of the Shrew, with the incomparable music and lyrics of the great Cole Porter, and what you get is a lush and sophisticated musical comedy valentine to a life in the theatre! This raucous and riotously funny play-within-a-play explodes as our leading lady, Lilli Vanessi, is forced to play opposite her ex-husband/director/leading man, Fred Graham. Already on poor terms, the pair engage in an all-out emotional war mid-performance that threatens the production's success. The only thing keeping the show together are threats from a pair of gangsters, who have come to collect a gambling debt. The show must go on, and in classic musical comedy fashion, slapstick madness ensues before everything is resolved.

Starring Barry Martin as Fred and Taylor Bartolucci as Lillie.  Also featuring Daniela Innocenti Beem, Jeremy Berrick, Kelsey Mielle Byrne, Henry Chazankin, Anya Cherniss, Rahman Dalrymple, Shari Hopkinson, April Krautner, Julianne Lorenzen, Michael Lumb, Anthony Martinez, Joseph Miranda, Jesse Pennington, Jon Rathjen, Jocelyn Roddie, Sam Starr, and Dwayne Stincelli
