Annie, Jr.
Directed by Keith Baker
School of Drama Production Workshop
Little Orphan Annie has been an American favorite since her appearance in Harold Gray's 1924 comic strip. But, when Mike Nicols took the Thomas Meehan and Charles Strouse musical to Broadway in 1977, the red-headed heroine officially became an American Icon, symbolizing hope, even in the darkest of circumstances.
With unforgettable music such as “Hard Knock Life”, “Tomorrow”, “Easy Street”, “Maybe” and “You're Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile”, the summer production of ANNIE, JR. will afford all participants the opportunity to celebrate a true rags-to-riches story and a chance to remember that one thing is always true: “the sun will come out tomorrow, come what may!” Classes will be composed of movement, dance, scene study, improvisation, clowning, voice, and most importantly, fun in a safe environment. The camp will include a wonderful assortment of guest instructors who will bring their special view of artistic creation to the proceedings. And, students will work musically with Richard Riccardi, the assistant conductor from the original Broadway National Tour, 1982-84.
