At first the Sycamores seem mad, but it is not long before we realize that if they are mad, the rest of the world is madder. Hilarity ensues when the stodgy Mr. Kirby is converted to happy madness in a household of strange activities including a visit from a Grand Duchess, the manufacture of homemade fireworks, a printing press in the parlor and a grandpa who doesn't believe in income tax.
