Saturdays 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm, Feb 4 - April 22, 2017(12 weeks) in the Studio Theatre
This is a scene study course with an emphasis on exploring inner monologue and subtext to make bolder, more specific character choices. Students will be challenged to do in-depth textual analysis as well as use their own creativity to develop a character. They will find meaning in, and between, the lines. Classwork will consist of group and individual exercises that prepare students for the demands of performing at the professional level. The class will culminate in a final showcase on April 22.
Thursdays 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm, Feb 2 - April 20, 2017 (12 weeks) in the Rehearsal Hall
This class is for focused performers with a purpose who want to learn new skill singing styles, musicianship, choreography, ensemble performance, and character development for Musical Theatre. Students will also have the opportunity to develop an audition repertoire, including a monologue, and song with movement specifically created for each student to demonstrate their strengths. This class will culminate in a performance for friends and family.

6th Street Playhouse Artistic & Education Director, Craig A. Miller, has directed over 150 professional productions across the country and is a former casting director in the NYC market. His comprehensive private instruction and consultation is geared toward the actor who is preparing for that big audition, applying to professional/collegiate training programs, or just wanting to add another couple pieces to your repertoire. Whether it’s the role of a lifetime, a list of dream schools, or you have no idea where to start, Craig can get you ready. Private consultations include: exploring colleges, picking the right head shot, effective resume layout, appropriate monologue selection, and industry standard audition/interview techniques. Groups of four or more are welcome to inquire about arranging an Auditioning Master Class.
