CARMEN MITCHELL as Maria
Carmen grew up as a competitive figure skater and ballet dancer and now works as a professional singer and actor. Her body of artistic work includes many leading roles in musicals, short films, commercials, concerts, and professional ice shows. Some of her favorite roles include: "Christine Daae" in Phantom of the Opera, "Fantine" in Les Misérables, "Lady of the Lake" in Spamalot, "Juliet" in Romeo & Juliet, "Viola" in Illyria, "Aida" in musical Aida, and the role of the “Live Host” on the National Tour of Disney on Ice. JONAH ROBINSON as Tony
Jonah is thrilled to be a part of this incredible gang! Jonah is a bi-coastal, professional actor, dancer and singer from Los Angeles, CA. He has worked regional houses all around the country performing in both plays and musicals. He was most recently seen in the Bay Area at the Marin Shakespeare Company (D’Artagnan, The Three Musketeers). Some of his favorite credits include Danny (Grease), Spike (Vanya & Sonya & Masha & Spike), and Ren (Footloose). He holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from the University of Miami. AL KAPLAN as Doc
Al has been involved in theatre since childhood. Raised in Chicago he worked with Paul Sills of Second City fame doing story theatre in the late 60’s. Recent shows at 6th Street Playhouse include “Visiting Mr. Green”, (Marque award for best actor in a drama). Charlie in “Death of a Salesman”, Jacob Marley (for 2 seasons) in “Christmas Carol” and Peter Quince in “Fairy World”, an adaptation of “Midsummer Night’s Dream”. Al also worked at Shakespeare in the Cannery with David Lear for 3 seasons. His favorite role there was Malvolio in “Twelfth Night”. Al is excited to be playing Doc in West Side Story, a musical he has always loved.
JUSTIN THOMPSON as Lt. Schrank/Gladhand
Justin trained and worked as an actor in New York City. His favorite roles include Macbeth, Brutus, Mercutio, Don Armado, Robin Hood, and Porthos in The Three Musketeers. Locally, he played Barrymore in I Hate Hamlet, and King Claudius in Sebastopol’s Hamlet. Justin has portrayed various policemen and thieves on ‘All My Children’, and ‘One Life To Live’, and was also a professional stuntman and jouster.
EYAN DEAN as Officer Krupke
Eyan is delighted to be a part of this show. He was last seen at 6th St. in The Comedy of Errors. Some of his favorite past performances include Allan in One Man, Two Guvnors and Eugene in Grease, along with directing a few 10-minute shows for the 10-minute show contest, of which Starbucks on Broadway was voted audience favorite. He is glad you came to support local theatre. Enjoy the show!
CHRIS SHAYOTA as Bernardo
Chris making his 6th Street Playhouse debut. Recent credits include The Tempest, The Super Trio! (Redwood Theatre Company), Into the Woods, Shrek the Musical, and All the Great Books (abridged) (Santa Rosa Junior College). Christopher is a student of vocal music at Santa Rosa Junior College and plans to transfer to a university and complete a Bachelor’s degree in vocal performance.
DANNY BAÑALES as Pepe
Danny has been acting in the community since he was 10. He is currently a Theatre Major at the SRJC and He’s been in countless productions in the area. His most recent crowning achievement was having the honor to portray Shrek in the SRJC’s production Shrek the musical. He is beyond thrilled to join the 6th Street Playhouse team to create a stunning show and there is no other show he would choose to be his first with this company other than West Side Story!
ALEX JIMENEZ as Juano
Alex has performed with the SRJC in The Servant of two Masters, Leaving Home, Welcome Home Jenny Sutter and most recently Jesus Christ Superstar. He has also worked with The Imaginists on several productions around the area. A performer of eight years, Alex plans on continuing his dreams of acting in the theatre arts.
BENJAMIN DONNER as Chino
Benjamin is a local dancer/choreographer in Santa Rosa and was last seen in 6th Street's Guys and Dolls and A Streetcar Named Desire as Harry the Horse and the Young Collector, respectively. Ben has been dancing for five years and has participated in competitions and showcases on the Auxiliary Adult Dance Team. With his love for theatre and dance, he has worked hard with his fellow cast members in providing the iconic experience of this musical and hopes that you will enjoy this production of West Side Story.
LUIS GONZALEZ as Luis
Luis is a junior at MHS and a former dancer with the MHS dance program. He loves to act, and enjoys the opportunity to bring his passion for dance and acting together in any production. Last year he performed in a variety of dance shows. He is very excited to be in this production of West Side Story and hopes you enjoy what he and his fellow cast has put together.
JON-DAVID RANDLE as Toro
Jon-David is making his debut with 6th Street Playhouse. He was last seen in Violet as Flick (Bay Area Musicals). He is excited to be a part of a monumental piece such as WSS. Some of his past credits: Dreamgirls (Curtis Taylor Jr.), Smokey Joe’s Cafe (Ensemble), Next to Normal ( Gabe) Pirates of Penzance ( Ensemble) The Wiz (Wizard) Memphis National Tour (Gator). Shout out to his bro Jourdán for talking him into this!
DENISE ELIA-YEN as Anita
Denise is an award-winning actress and stage director. She received back-to-back SFBATCC Principal Actress in a Musical awards, performed on both coasts, and represented the United States in international theater festivals. Past roles include Eliza Doolittle (My Fair Lady), Kathy Selden (Singin’ In The Rain), Annie Oakley (Annie Get Your Gun), Laura (The Glass Menagerie), And Beatrice (In The Mood). She has directed Stalag-17 And The Sugar Bean Sisters and is the director of Drama and Stagecraft at Maria Carrillo High School.
MARINA MAIA as Rosalia
Marina is making her 6th Street Playhouse debut! She has been a part of two plays before this, playing the lead role of Maria in her high school’s production of The Sound of Music and Abigail in a production of Joe Dipietro’s Creating Claire put on by the Upstage Napa Valley theater company.
OLAYA CICCARELLI-BERMUDEZ as Teresita
Olaya is excited to be performing in her fourth production at 6th Street Playhouse. She was most recently seen here in White Christmas. Also at 6th Street Playhouse she acted as Rosalie in The Children’s Hour, A Christmas Story as Helen and performed the role of Laurie in Brighton Beach Memoirs at the Raven Performing Arts Theater. She passionately loves acting, singing and tap-dancing.
MARY DIAZ as Margarita
Mary is making her 6th St. Playhouse debut! An artist, poet and activist, she's written and performed in eclectic theater projects throughout the Bay Area. She's thrilled to have the opportunity to return to musical theater. She is forever grateful to her family for supporting her creative work in all its forms, most especially to Bodhi and Oona.
KATERINA FLORES as Consuela
Katerina is excited to make her 6th Street Playhouse debut. She is currently a theatre major at SRJC pursuing her dreams with vigorous jazz hands, in 2/3 time, while immersed in a pirouette. Previous roles: Nina in In The Heights, Cinderella’s Mother in Into The Woods, Rizzo in Grease and Yolanda Garcia in How The Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents. She gives thanks to her family, friends, teachers and castmates, who have provided her nothing but love and support. Adieu and enjoy the show.
CHARLIE WHITAKER as Francisca
Charlie is a native of the Philippines and moved to the US in 2016. She has participated in choirs and dance performances all her life, and has recently ventured into acting. Her first role was the Sugar Plum Fairy and Gingy in SRJC’s production of Shrek the Musical in Fall 2018. Along with theater productions, she is a full-time Vocal Performance student at SRJC.
NOAH STERNHILL as Action
Noah is excited to make his 6th St. Playhouse debut! Past credits include: a fruit bowl...in Beauty and the Beast, Grantaire in Les Mis, Andre in Phantom of the Opera, Bert in Mary Poppins, and Feste in Twelfth Night. Just a SHORT while ago, he had the pleasure of playing Lord Farquaad in Shrek: The Musical (American College Theatre Festival nomination), and just recently finished Jesus Christ Superstar portraying Judas Iscariot—fulfilling two of his dream roles within a year! He hopes you enjoy this production of West Side Story!
BRETT MOLLARD as Riff
Brett has been acting in Sonoma County since 2012. Past roles at 6th Street Playhouse include Benny Southstreet in Guys and Dolls and Freddy Eynsford-Hill in My Fair Lady. Other prominent roles include the Baker in Into the Woods (SRJC), Giuseppe Zangara in Assassins (Sonoma Arts Live) and Matt in The Fantasticks (Sonoma Arts Live). After summer, he's moving to LA to pursue acting.
RYAN WHITLOCK as A-rab
Ryan has been acting in 6th street productions since 2014 and is happy to be back with them after a brief hiatus. You may recognize him from when he filled in for David Yen as Chico Marx in Animal Crackers, or as a Male Phantom in not one, but TWO productions of Rocky Horror Show. Ryan is ecstatic to embody a teenage ruffian from the 50s and hopes you enjoy this timeless classic.
BENNETT PARISI as Baby John
Bennett is extremely excited to make his theatrical debut in West Side Story. He is currently a student at Montgomery High School and is a member of both Montgomery’s Concert Choir and Chamber Singers performing in many vocal performances including the Madrigal Feast. He is incredibly thrilled to be a part of the cast and thanks you for coming to the show.
ZACH FRANGOS as Snowboy
Zach is eager to make his first appearance at 6th Street Playhouse in his dream production. In 2016, he dove into ballet and now performs regularly with Contemporary and Classical Dance with Tamara Grose and most recently in Spreckels’ Cinderella. Zach is grateful to share feature dances with an amazing partner in Madeline Brown! This summer, he will return to Joffrey Ballet School in NYC. Go Mambo!
LANDON SCOTT as Diesel
Landon is proud and happy beyond words for his debut role of Diesel the Jet in 6th Street Playhouse’s production of West Side Story. After a year-long acting hiatus working full time, Landon is ready to put the pedal to the metal and rock the house in this classic Broadway show!
ARIANA MILLAR as Mini
Ariana is an international student from New Zealand and has been studying theatre at the SRJC. Her past shows include The Naked Truth, The Addams Family Musical and Jesus Christ Superstar. As she finishes up her time in America she is delighted to work on such an incredible show with some of the most hardworking people in the community.
PERI ZOE YILDIRIM-STANLEY as Pauline
Peri Zoe has been a part of 6th Street Playhouse for many years now and was last seen in Annie. She has been Miss Andrew in Mary Poppins, Nala in The Lion King, a part of Speechless Shakespeare at the Shakespeare Festival, and the co-writer and musical director of Transition Town. She is an avid musical theatre fan and performer and would love to make some sort of living out of it in the future.
EMMA LEFEVER as Anybodys
Emma is thrilled for her 6th Street Playhouse Debut! Recent roles include Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family at Spreckles Performing Arts Center, and Simon in Jesus Christ Super Star at Santa Rosa Junior College. Starting this August, Emma will be transferring from SRJC to Pacific Conservatory Theatre (PCPA), an acting conservatory in Santa Maria.
SARAH CORNETT as Velma
Sarah is making her 6th Street debut in West Side Story as Velma. She is in her first year at Technology High School and was just elected as their Student Body Secretary for the 2019-2020 school year. She has participated in a number of productions at Spreckels including an ensemble member in Titanic: The Musical and a Warrior in Peter Pan.
MADELINE BROWN as Graziella
Madeline is excited for her debut with 6th Street Playhouse. With 17 years of classical ballet training, she has also performed in multiple musicals that include Cats, Sweet Charity, Beauty and the Beast, and Cinderella. She and her husband settled down in Santa Rosa where the local theater was calling for her return and is thrilled to be a part of a wonderful ensemble.
MONTANA HAMEL as Danielle
Montana is excited to be on stage with 6th Street again. Her first production, Fairy Worlds, with Shakespeare in the Cannery ignited her passion for theater. Some of her favorite acting and dance credits include numerous roles in The Nutcracker with Sebastopol Ballet, Grease, Viola in Plot against Shakespeare and Pamona in Metamorphoses. Montana is thrilled to be working with this talented cast and crew and hopes you enjoy the show!
